Today’s mystery animal is a master of stealth and very
rarely leaves tracks, much less giving you the chance to see him. There is
only 1 photo in this quiz (photo "G1"). I found these tracks at
dawn, one of the most inspiring sights I have ever witnessed.
Habitat: Abandoned farm, surrounded by woodlands &
thickets, in central Connecticut.
Time of Year: January.
Clues: The snowpack was 6" deep and was fairly firm. On
top of this was a dusting of powdery snow that had fallen overnight. The
weather overnight was overcast, just below freezing, and wind absolutely
calm. The body print measured approximately 36" wide by 28"
long.
So, who is the mystery animal, and what happened?
